“Counties are grouped in zones based on the between-county commute data. If two counties are in the same zone, it means that people who work and live in different counties, are more likely to work in a county from the same zone, rather than in a different zone.

This map can suggest how the country is divided economically. Or rather, if we define states by this map, then most people will probably work in the same state”–alexander-j
